An odd realization struck me today about how lucky we are..

after having a hard day on my way back home, overlooking the bustling crowd from a bus a thought just came so out of the blue..

mostly I think of that when a physically (or mentally) impaired gets somewhere next to me.. only then it comes to my mind how lucky I am being able to see, hear and absorb everything around me and with these priceless abilities I am living a 100% LIFE, I am one of the world’s luckiest people to be part of this magic.. I can speak, laugh, listen to music and do what I want, basically freely.

I just started reading a book about a young man getting to jail on his business trip to Russia and what he goes through minute by minute in a shitty cell having been barred with 25 halfwits, not speaking the language, not being able to sleep, eat or do whatever he wants.. this kind of prison psychology has always interested me, how the human mind bears the suddenly restricted environment.

The strange thing about that is only when something (which is part of the routine) ceases to exist will we be able to realize that those obvious abilities are not obvious at all.. and we would be finally thankful to live a life what we live and start seeing things from a different, solemn aspect.

We moan about the gasoline prices or freak out if the machine doesn’t give the chance back, but it still cannot be compared to anything like not being able to walk or see. Yet, those people whose abilities are limited accept life with honour regarding to what they have is still a lot.

Not to upset anybody just thought it would be useful every now and then to remind us how lucky we are..  in every day, in every hour.. without winning the lottery or a nice trip to the Bahamas.

Take care and have a good weekend!
